Storm Scout is a Rare-rarity sprite from the Runners season in Fortnite. It is currently unreleased and not yet available in-game.
Triggers an Overdrive speed boost after you absorb a certain threshold of storm damage — rewarding players who push deep into the zone and rotate late.
Storm damage threshold may decrease with Level Up.
Storm Scout (unreleased) triggers Overdrive when you take storm damage — a speed boost for escaping the circle. Similar to Cube variants but as a standalone sprite. Will be strong for players who like to loot deep in storm and rotate late.
Storm Scout triggers an Overdrive speed burst after absorbing a threshold of storm damage. This flips the storm from a threat into a resource — intentionally staying in the storm to charge the Overdrive becomes a viable strategy. Players who rotate late, loot deep inside the zone, or push through the collapsing edge all generate Overdrive charges naturally without changing their playstyle.
Unlike Sonic (permanent passive speed boost), Storm Scout's speed is conditional — it only activates after storm damage. This means Storm Scout underperforms Sonic in fights that happen entirely inside safe zone. Its advantage is cost efficiency: Rare rarity at lower Sprite Dust than Sonic's Epic tier, with burst speed that can briefly exceed Sonic's sustained speed during activation. If your playstyle naturally involves late-circle pushes, Storm Scout gives better Dust-per-speed-value than Sonic.
The storm damage threshold required to trigger Overdrive may decrease with level-up, meaning higher-level Storm Scout activates from shorter storm exposure. The practical effect: at max level you can deliberately tag the storm edge for a few ticks and immediately gain Overdrive, rather than needing to soak deep storm damage. This shifts it from "accidentally useful" to "deliberately deployable" at max level.
Storm Scout's best scenario is the final 3–5 circles, when the zone is collapsing fast and every rotation matters. If you're positioned slightly outside the safe zone as the circle closes, the storm damage you absorb charges Overdrive — which fires exactly when you need speed most (crossing into the circle). It's self-timing: the danger of your position creates the escape tool automatically.
Storm Scout is Rare at 2,000 Sprite Dust, making it one of the cheapest mobility options in C7S4. For players who frequently find themselves caught in the storm — intentionally or not — Storm Scout is the budget rotation sprite. It won't replace Sonic for pure-speed purposes, but as a Dust-efficient storm-loop tool it fills a distinct niche.
