The Fortnite Runners season shipped with 147 sprites in the game files — 20 unique base characters, each with up to 8 themed Special variants. Not all of them are obtainable yet (roughly 80 are live, the rest are still locked), but this page lists the complete roster as it exists in the current build.
Base sprites fall into four tiers: Rare (Water, Earth, Fire, Fishy, Air), Epic (Duck, Ghost, Demon, King, Striker, Aura), Legendary (Dream, Punk, Boss, Seven), and Mythic (Zero Point, Burnt Peanut, Grim, John Wick). Each one has a unique gameplay-changing ability. The Special variants — Gold, Gummy, Galaxy, Gem, Holofoil, and others — inherit the base ability and layer on a passive bonus like extra XP, bonus ammo, or increased dust yield on extraction.

147 in total exist in the game files as of the current patch. That breaks down to 20 base characters × multiple theme variants each. Of those 147, roughly 80 are currently obtainable in-game — the rest are datamined variants (mostly Gem, Cube, Quack, and Rift themes) that Epic hasn't enabled yet.
The 20 base sprites are: Water, Earth, Fire, Fishy, Air (Rare), Duck, Ghost, Demon, King, Striker, Aura (Epic), Dream, Punk, Boss, Seven (Legendary), and Zero Point, Burnt Peanut, Grim, John Wick (Mythic). Each base has Special variants in themes like Gold, Gummy, Galaxy, Gem, Holofoil, Cube, Quack, and Rift — though not every base has every theme available.
Three methods: 1) Find them wild on the map or in Sprite Chests and extract them at an Extraction Site. 2) Summon them directly with Sprite Dust (costs range from 100 dust for Rare bases to 15,000 for Gold Zero Point). 3) Higher-tier chests (Yellow/Red key-locked) have better odds for Epic+ sprites. Completing the full collection realistically requires thousands of matches or strategic dust farming — most collectors focus on base sprites first, then grind dust for the expensive Special variants.
