About Fortnite Rare Sprites
Fortnite Rare sprites are the entry tier of the Runners season Sprite system. Five sprites share this tier — Water, Earth, Fire, Fishy, and the unreleased Air — and they are the most common sprites you'll encounter in the wild. Rare sprites drop from standard green Sprite Chests (no key needed), spawn at fixed biome locations, and are the cheapest to summon with Sprite Dust, making them ideal for new players building their first Collection.
Don't let "Rare" fool you into thinking these are weak. Fishy is a consistent B-tier pick for its movement-speed-on-damage burst, and Water would be a top-tier survivability tool if Epic hadn't accidentally swapped its effect with Earth's in the current patch (community-confirmed bug — see the tier list). Rare sprites also anchor most of the Special theme variants: every Gold, Gummy, Galaxy, Gem, and Holofoil variant of Water/Earth/Fire/Fishy starts life as a Rare base.

How do I get Rare sprites?
Rare sprites drop from green Sprite Chests (no key required — found everywhere on the map), from their fixed biome spawn locations, or you can summon any of them for a low Sprite Dust cost. Each one has a specific home biome: Water near rivers, Earth in forests, Fire in urban zones, Fishy on hilltops. See the Location Map for exact spawn coordinates.
Are Rare sprites worth summoning?
Yes — Rare sprites are the cheapest to summon with Sprite Dust and unlock the entire Special variant chain for each base character. If you want the Gold Water or Galaxy Fire you saw in someone's inventory, you first need the base Rare version.
